BIO
I’m 60, and have been a musician for 55 years since I started piano lessons and singing in Sunday school. I began singing in choirs in high school, leading small ensembles. I became a church choir director right out of high school, and have 28 years of experience leading church & community choirs. I started composing for choirs in university. A Masters’ degree in Choral Conducting was followed by 2 years running a university choral program, followed by a decade of full-time church music directorship.
Back in 1987 I set a Christmas poem written by my father to music, and we decided to do that every year, calling the collection the Overman Carols. The year 2020 marked 34 of those.
I’ve also enjoyed writing music for our family, who are all singers. You can watch some examples of that on YouTube.
